R32: the low GWP alternative to R410A in air conditioning systems

R32 is an HFC refrigerant until now used as a component in blends of R-410A and R-407C. Thanks to its energy efficiency and environmental properties, R32 has already been used by the major manufacturers of domestic air conditioners.

R32 has Global Warming Potential – GWP – significantly lower than that of R-410A; the product is used in systems that require low cooling temperatures.

R32 is a mildly flammable gas and requires the use of polyester oil (POE), with specific viscosity for R-32.

Applications:

R32 is used in residential and commercial air conditioning systems.

Performance:

• R32 has equivalent performance and energy efficiency compared to R-410A.
• GWP (Global Warming Potential) significantly lower than that of R-410A.
• It does not require the replacement of components, lubricants and seals.

Recommended Lubricants:

Important:

R32 can only be used on new systems designed to work with mildly flammable gases (class A2L).

R32 cannot and must not be used as a retrofit product for A/C systems designed to operate with R410A; in addition to the obvious safety implications, since R410A systems are not designed to work with even mildly flammable gases, there are substantial differences in the correct gas charge (about -25% compared to R410A) and in the flow temperature (higher than that of R410A).
